The Validity of Stupidity Within Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS

Updated: May 24, 2022

All right, let us just get right into the nitty gritty, shall we? It has gone on long enough, and I am tired. The characters within Ridley Scott's divisive film PROMETHEUS are outright stupid--but that is because people are stupid, actually, and the fact that there is any debate about the validity of stupidity within the film itself only further proves my findings because if we weren't so fucking stupid then we would just watch the film and shut the fuck up about it, right? But we've dragged out this laborious debate, if it can even be recognized as such, for nearly a decade now. Discrediting the film itself as a cohesive structure due to one of the most forgivable and, not to mention believable, aspects of humanity: Moronity.

"But Cullen," you say, "But Cullen, they were professionals of their given field. The highest of their respective orders. They were so qualified for their positions, in fact, that they were chosen for their mission specifically on the merit of their personal accomplishments." And, well, to that I say, where the fuck did you get all of that from? I certainly didn't gather all of that, and I have seen the film numerous times. You can imply the entire reasoning for their circumstance but not forgive an honest mistake in human judgment? That may or may not have happened multiple times? Why don't you just get bent, okay? Get all the way bent. Why don't you go to the farthest outer reaches of space, come on back and tell me all about how you stayed on your very best behavior. You schmuck. Get bent.
